Stanley Maxwell will be performing for FREE at The Shoppes at Farmington Valley, located at 110 Albany Turnpike in Canton, on the following Fridays in July and August from 6pm to 8pm: 7/2, 7/9, 7/16, 7/23, 7/30, 8/6, 8/13, 8/20, and 8/27.
 
Stanley Maxwell will be performing for FREE outside DISH 'n Dat (or inside if it rains).

The Shoppes at Farmington Valley is an open-air shopping destination that offers an enticing selection of fifty specialty stores and unique eateries amid sunlit streetscapes, lush landscaping, oversized potted plants, park benches and more.

  Fu" is guitarist Tim Palmieri, drummer Adrian 
  Tramontano, saxophonist Kris Jensen, bassist Dave
  Livolsi, and keyboardist Todd Stoops.

"Stanley Maxwell" has performed with Tim Palmieri and Adrian Tramontano in their other band "The Breakfast" (including their Fonghoulish Freakout in 2003). Tim Palmieri has sat in several times with "Stanley Maxwell", including an opening slot for "The New Deal" in 2003. Kris Jensen performed with "Stanley Maxwell" at the New Haven Jazz Festival in 2004. Evan Green plays regularly with Dave Livolsi.

Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough

July 3, 2009In memory of Michael Jackson, Stanley Maxwell debuted their arrangement of the 1979 classic "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" at their gig on July 3 in Lakeside, Connecticut. Stanley Maxwell had previously performed a cover of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" at their Halloween gig in 2002 at the Common Ground in Boston, Massachusetts.
 
 
The July 3 gig also featured the premiere of a new tune entitled "Haulin' Notes" by drummer Andy Chatfield.

   Wesley is known for his work with James Brown - for
   whom he was music director, arranger, and a primary
   composer from '68 to '75, when he went to play with
   George Clinton and Bootsy Collins. In '78 Wesley
   joined the Count Basie Orchestra. For the first half of
   the '90s Wesley toured with his James Brown
   colleagues Maceo Parker and Pee Wee Ellis. Wesley
   has also worked  Ray Charles, Ike and Tina Turner,
   Usher, Lionel Hampton, Randy Crawford, Vanessa
   Williams, The SOS Band, Cameo, and De La Soul,

Johanna Johanna - a classically trained soprano from New York with an adept pop sensibility, and the featured vocalist on the title track of Stanley Maxwell's debut studio album Don't Wake The Baby! - will be singing Pink Floyd's "Animals" album in its entirety with the group on Saturday, January 10, 2009.

Stanley Maxwell to open for Charlie Hunter Trio

Charlie HunterStanley Maxwell returns to The Main Pub in Manchester, Connecticut on Saturday, September 13 to open for the Charlie Hunter Trio. Tickets are $15 and are available online here.  Show starts at 8pm.

Charlie Hunter is an American guitarist, composer and band leader who first came to prominence in the early '90s and has since become one of the leading names in jazz. Hunter is noted for playing custom-made seven and eight-string guitars, on which he simultaneously plays bass lines, rhythm guitar, and solos. His current trio consists of Tony Mason on drums and Erik Deutsch on piano, Fender Rhodes, and CasioTone.

Make a video for Stanley Maxwell in Dfest edition of Red Bull's "Beats Per Minute" filmmaking competition

BPM Sign up by Friday for the Dfest edition of Red Bull's "Beats Per Minute", a 48 hour filmmaking competition. At 7pm on July 11, teams will be given MP3s of two songs from artists performing at Dfest in Tulsa later this month. This signals the beginning of the competition. The teams will then have 48 hours to complete a music video and upload it to www.filmmakingfrenzy.com The top 40 videos will be shown in the Red Bull "Beats Per Minute" tent inside the Dfest grounds throughout the weekend. The winning video will be premiered on the main stage during Dfest, plus four members of the winning team will be sent to Red Bull Soap Box on October 25 in Denver at Red Rocks.

Stanley Maxwell wins Independent Music Award for Best Jazz Song

Independent Music Awards WinnerThe Stanley Maxwell song “Mousetrap” has been selected as the Winner in the "Best Jazz Song" category of the 7th Annual Independent Music Awards. Stanley Maxwell was selected by Industry and Artist judges over four other Jazz Song Finalists, including The Harlem Experiment's "Harlem River Drive".

Stanley Maxwell's "Mousetrap" joins fellow winners Marco Benevento (Best Live Performance Album - "Live At Tonic"), The Frequency (Best Jam Song - "Jim Gordon Part II"), Ernie Watts (Best Jazz Album - "Analog Man"), and Lionel Loueke (Best World/Traditional Song - "Kponnon Kpete") on the IMA CD compilation, Now Hear This, to be distributed at major music events such as SXSW, Folk Alliance, Popkomm, NXNE, Ozzfest, Warped Tour, MacRock, MTV Springbreak, London Calling and others throughout 2008.
