Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough
In memory of Michael Jackson, Stanley Maxwell debuted their arrangement of the 1979 classic "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" at their gig on July 3 in Lakeside, Connecticut. Stanley Maxwell had previously performed a cover of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" at their Halloween gig in 2002 at the Common Ground in Boston, Massachusetts.
The July 3 gig also featured the premiere of a new tune entitled "Haulin' Notes" by drummer Andy Chatfield.

"Bootstrap" to open for Fred Wesley & The New JBs at the Warehouse on Wednesday April 8
"Bootstrap" - Andy, Mark & Eric from "Stanley Maxwell" - will be opening for trombonist Fred Wesley & The New JBs on Wednesday April 8.
Wesley is known for his work with James Brown - for whom he was music director, arranger, and a primary composer from '68 to '75, when he went to play with George Clinton and Bootsy Collins. In '78 Wesley joined the Count Basie Orchestra. For the first half of the '90s Wesley toured with his James Brown colleagues Maceo Parker and Pee Wee Ellis. Wesley has also worked Ray Charles, Ike and Tina Turner, Usher, Lionel Hampton, Randy Crawford, Vanessa Williams, The SOS Band, Cameo, and De La Soul, among others.

Stanley Maxwell to open for Charlie Hunter Trio
Stanley Maxwell returns to The Main Pub in Manchester, Connecticut on Saturday, September 13 to open for the Charlie Hunter Trio. Tickets are $15 and are available online here. Show starts at 8pm.
Charlie Hunter is an American guitarist, composer and band leader who first came to prominence in the early '90s and has since become one of the leading names in jazz. Hunter is noted for playing custom-made seven and eight-string guitars, on which he simultaneously plays bass lines, rhythm guitar, and solos. His current trio consists of Tony Mason on drums and Erik Deutsch on piano, Fender Rhodes, and CasioTone.

Sign up by Friday for the Dfest edition of Red Bull's "Beats Per Minute", a 48 hour filmmaking competition. At 7pm on July 11, teams will be given MP3s of two songs from artists performing at Dfest in Tulsa later this month. This signals the beginning of the competition. The teams will then have 48 hours to complete a music video and upload it to www.filmmakingfrenzy.com The top 40 videos will be shown in the Red Bull "Beats Per Minute" tent inside the Dfest grounds throughout the weekend. The winning video will be premiered on the main stage during Dfest, plus four members of the winning team will be sent to Red Bull Soap Box on October 25 in Denver at Red Rocks.

Stanley Maxwell wins Independent Music Award for Best Jazz Song
The Stanley Maxwell song “Mousetrap” has been selected as the Winner in the "Best Jazz Song" category of the 7th Annual Independent Music Awards. Stanley Maxwell was selected by Industry and Artist judges over four other Jazz Song Finalists, including The Harlem Experiment's "Harlem River Drive".
Stanley Maxwell's "Mousetrap" joins fellow winners Marco Benevento (Best Live Performance Album - "Live At Tonic"), The Frequency (Best Jam Song - "Jim Gordon Part II"), Ernie Watts (Best Jazz Album - "Analog Man"), and Lionel Loueke (Best World/Traditional Song - "Kponnon Kpete") on the IMA CD compilation, Now Hear This, to be distributed at major music events such as SXSW, Folk Alliance, Popkomm, NXNE, Ozzfest, Warped Tour, MacRock, MTV Springbreak, London Calling and others throughout 2008.

Stanley Maxwell won Relix Magazine's November 2007 "JamOff" contest for unsigned artists. Stanley Maxwell was featured on the November Relix CD sampler, which was included with over 100,000 issues of the internationally distributed magazine. Relix is a publication dedicated to jam bands and improvisational music. Stanley Maxwell wins "Best Jazz Band" in 2007 Hartford Advocate Grand Band Slam Readers' Poll
Stanley Maxwell won the "Best Jazz Band" category in the 2007 Hartford Advocate Grand Band Slam readers' poll. Stanley Maxwell performed a set during the "Indoor Slam" on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Black-Eyed Sally's in Hartford:
As the band enjoyed Black-Eyed Sally's award-winning BBQ and Cajun cooking for dinner, Eight to the Bar started the evening with R&B and soul. Ryan Hartt & The Blue Hearts ended the night with blues tunes.
Setlist includes original tunes "Not Yet!", "Bono's Squandering", "No Good Reasons", "Mousetrap", "Tie Machine", and the world premiere of "Freak Mama Dippin'"; plus covers of Jaco Pastorius' "Continuum" and Weather Report's classic "Birdland".
Footage taped by Brian Freeman, who gives exposure to Connecticut entertainers, encouraging support of the industry through the public access program "Something Different" on Nutmeg TV.
